Graduation Dress Code

Things to Remember:

NO Chewing Gum, NO sunglasses, NO decorating graduation cap.

Seniors are expected to dress appropriately for the Graduation ceremony.  Graduation is likely to be the last time the entire Oakdale High School Class of 2023 will ever convene.  As such, seniors will wear caps and gowns over their dress clothes. Stoles, honor cords and medals bestowed by FCPS/State of Maryland may also be worn at this time. Students should consider reasonable flat shoes. Keep in mind you will be ascending and descending a flight of stairs to get your diploma; make your shoe choice sensible.

Each graduating senior will receive 6 tickets for the graduation ceremony during practice.  The graduation ceremony will be live streamed and archived on the Oakdale High School Athletics YouTube channel.

Accessible Seating

There are several types of seats in Knott Arena. Most seats are stadium style, requiring guests to climb up stairs. Some seats have backs while others are bleachers.

Additionally, folding chairs with some padding are available on the floor and can be reserved upon request by persons who cannot walk up stairs or who wish to remain in their wheelchairs.

We will seat up to 2 additional family members (total of 3) in the accessible seating area, if it is requested in advance.

If you have guests who will require special seating on the floor of the arena, please complete the form below and submit.

There are no special tickets for this section. All guests will need to use one of the 6 tickets provided to each graduate.

Oakdale High School does not have access to wheelchairs. If a person uses a wheelchair, you must provide your own.

For families who need a Sign Language Interpreter

All of the guests will be able to sit together (these families are not limited to 2 seats).

If you have guests who will require special seating for a sign language interpreter, please complete the form below and submit.

There are no special tickets for this section. All guests will need to use one of the 6 tickets provided to each graduate.

Accessible Parking

Oakdale High School is not authorized to issue Disability parking permits (Guests must have an official MVA Disability Placard).

There are a number of graduation guests who have walking difficulties.

Guests with walking difficulties and their escorts should be dropped off at the door to the entrance of the Knott Arena, if at all possible.
